Original post made on May 2, 2019

A Mountain View Environmental Planning Commission meeting ended in disappointment last Wednesday night for some silent protesters who hoped to stop cannabis businesses from opening in the city.

The War on (some) Drugs is a racist crime against humanity.

The war on cannabis is a triumph of ignorance and propaganda over science, reason, and the 10,000 year history of safe use of this valuable botanical plant.

The City Council has dragged their heels for 20+ years on this issue despite overwhelming support in Mountain View and the surrounding county. They have betrayed their citizens again and again, promising to make safe access to cannabis a priority then stabbing the citizens in the back time and time again.

For the last time: Cannabis dispensaries are NOT associated with an increase in crime or any of the other bogeymen being touted by the ignorant protestors. States that have legalized cannabis and provided wide access tend to see REDUCTIONS in violent crime, traffic accidents, suicide, and opiate use. Cannabis has a 100% perfect safety record with zero deaths in all the recorded history. This last is not my conclusion, it's in a DEA legal ruling in 1988.

I have to wonder if this outside group has influenced Councilwoman Abe-Koga as her abrupt request to revisit the decisions already made came in unison with the sudden appearance of this secretive group.

There is a lot of property, houses and other real estate, owned by
citizens of the People's Republic. They use it to get it out of
the PRC and they buy in the Bay Area. That's one reason why you
see this interest in marijuana rules. Marijuana is particularly
demonized in the PRC. The people organize on WeChat a sort of Chinese
Nextdoor that connects expats with their investors back home, among
other things, and with each other.

This is not to say that there aren't also Chinese speaking local residents
who are U.S. citizens and have their own opinions. However even they
would keep them secret rather than buck the Chinese ethos that Marijuana is
pure decadence in all ways.

Part of the issue is that shares or the equivalent in the investments are
traded within the PRC. The investment is less valuable there if the
community has marijuana. So that's an added motivation to protest.
There is investment protection and liquidity protection involved,
in addition to anything else.
