California public schools are failing the poorer segments of the population all the time. Why should we be surprised by this? And the solution certainly is not to throw open the borders and bring more poor and homeless people in. The current problems and deficiencies need to be addressed not compounded by an even greater population of needy people.

Seems like the public schools want to focus on everything except for learning. WTH

No wonder charter schools are so much better.

Mark and Kevin (Voice reporters) and now .... how are our own school districts handling this need? I think I read in a local district report that there were something like 57 high school students identified as homeless. I assume that the elementary schools in MV, with younger (poorer) families and just as many students, will have more. How are the MVWSD and MVLA allocating Supplemental Grant LCFF dollars (supposedly 20% of the state allotment per student to these particular student's needs) to the Economically Disadvantaged / homeless?

Is the money, for the Target Students actually being spent on Supplementary services for these particular students (like community coordinators or At-Risk coordinators in the schools with homeless students / or proportionally assigned to these students)?

How will our dear Councilmembers (Abe-Koga and Ramirez/ Guest Opinion this issue) justify their actions to kick these student and families out of our community? (lame suburban Democrat liberals! even progressive Republicans know that ain't right to treat the poor that way)
