Although convenient, Lift and Uber do not make the traffic better. Actually, they add the traffic because Uber or Lift has to arrive to the customer first (so it will drive w/o any passenger)

Can we use this opportunity to stop the Uber/Lyft driver from double parking, and stopping in the middle of Castro to load and unload passengers? That would help traffic on our streets and make our roads safer for everyone that uses them.

The program only applies to carpool rides (more than one passenger in addition to the driver), so maybe it will reduce traffic. The regular Lyft/Uber rides with a solo passenger are terrible for traffic, in addition the double parking and blocking bike lanes problems.

Ive noticed there are now city signs labled Lyft & Uber parking/pick-up only spots in Mt. View just off of Castro St. Are Lyft and Uber paying for this? What will happen if I park there? Will this become a trend where Mt. View starts selling off street parking to corporations?

When you add the code in the Lyft app you can see a map of the area covered by this code. Besides Mountain View, it encompasses most of Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Menlo Park and portions of Santa Clara. It is not clear whether your trip has to start or end in Mountain View for the code to work
