I wonder how Mayor Matichak will thwart them?

There are trailer parks for RVs. I walk Stevens Creek trail quite often and there is one right next to it. That is the legal place to park RV.
Homeowners cannot add an extra room to the house that will protrude to the street, it is illegal. Why is it legal for RVs to occupy and block the streets?

I certainly DO NOT think that this ban is an overreach, as voted-out-of-office Lenny, states above. I applaud City Councils recent proposal and look forward to the day when I can cycle down (currently unsafe) Shoreline Blvd without the bike lanes being blocked with RVs and RVs thinking they can come from neighboring cities and afar, due to word being out that MV does not enforce its laws.

This movement by our disgraced former mayor Lenny Siegel makes no sense. It's more sour grapes than anything. For the most part, to get the ball rolling, MVPD just needs to enforce city code and California Vehicle Code to get rid of the RVs. The City Council doesn't even need to get involved.

I do not support a blanket ban on RVs and trailers. They are symptoms of the housing crisis, the lack of affordable housing plaguing the area. They are the obverse of tech wealth, its accompanying shadow. This is the reality of Silicon Valley and this country, that prosperity for the few begets misery for the many. Some people like to visit Disneyland, but don't realize the workers running day-to-day operations are living out of their cars, having to choose between groceries or medicine. This is what you get when people aren't paid a living wage, when affordable housing isn't built, when you can go bankrupt because of a medical emergency. Of course the present situation is unbearable, most of all for the vehicle dwellers. But we should courageously recognize and tackle the root causes together rather than give in the temptation of picking on the weakest and living in a fantasy (that everything is fine in town except for the RVs).

If that's the case, then why are pro-ban comments getting 5x to 20x the "like votes" at this site when compared to anti-ban comments? At least here in Voice comments, and among almost everyone I know, there is a universal consensus that the RV's must be banned from public streets of MV --- either for specifically designated lots, or to leave MV entirely. They are a major health and safety problem, and also an environmental disaster due to indiscriminate waste dumping.

Simply put, one can use an Ipad to vote infinitely on the like button because the website has no mean to prevent it.

Business man is being kind. If you cannot understand that "likes" are meaningless, please stop commenting at all. Your use of a completely exploitable and meaningless metric to prove your point renders your whole post a waste of time at best. You're either intentionally misleading, or just do not understand this simple concept. Either way, your post is suspect and your data "from your friends" is probably also incorrect or misleading.

There is nothing disgraceful about standing up for what is right. It is disgraceful to be intolerant; it is disgraceful to misrepresent the truth; it is disgraceful to pursue hidden agendas; it is disgraceful to hide behind aliases.

Most other Mountain View residents don't want people living in vehicles in front of their homes. Indeed, very few vehicle households park in front of other peoples' homes.

The City's own survey, while not a stratified random sample, showed only 43.7% of the respondents wanted to restrict parking, and I want to restrict parking where there are safety issues, such as in bike lanes. But my discussions with many Mountain View residents - homeowners, renters, mobile home owners, and vehicle residents - have convinced me that most people want to solve the problem of vehicle residency, not simply move it around by outlawing vehicle households. The new Council majority has overreached, and if necessary a referendum will prove that.

Only one candidate made vehicle residents an issue in the 2018 campaign, and he came in dead last.

I have a fire hydrant in front of my house. It wasn't there when I bought the house.. they put it in maybe 20 years ago.. anyway.. I get $36 tickets if I get caught parking in front of my own house.

But the city decides they aren't going to enforce the parking laws for these RV's?

Sounds fair.

I promise you a majority of those RV's don't run. They setup camp and let the tires rot.
