The city of Mountain View is supporting a lawsuit against the Trump administration claiming proposed changes to federal immigration rules are unlawful and would harm underprivileged immigrants.

The City Council should focus on solving Mountain View issues, such as RVs camping on City Streets. In others words the council should be supporting the laws that exist in our city. Citizens have the right to vote on federal issues during national elections. Who cares what some members of the City Council think about Trump. This is purely theatrics. And a waste of time.

“117,600 non-citizens from families in which at least one person receives a public benefit under the proposed guidelines, and that deterring residents from using these benefits imposes "significant costs on the county “
I do not understand how unused benefits can impose any costs.

City of Mountain View does not represent my views.
Trump 2020.
This once beautiful city has lost its soul to Google, Facebook, Linkin and failed its students. You use student to march the street missing classes to push your agenda. Shame on all of you at city hall.

This is a national issue, that has very local consequences.

Wonder if none of this generation's students, in civics, have been taught about Teach Ins. Done before school, after school, and at recesses/lunches I found in the late 1960's, that this was extremely effective in connecting to fellow students. (and pissing off the district administration - sometime an additional benefit).

At my 40th high school reunion, this was a favorite topic (among the law school professors, pastors, EPA administrators, researchers and other former student scholars/leaders/malcontents of those times).

Should teach our students - how to be as politically effective as the Parkland FL HS students. Hard Work. Focus.

Disgusting -- the City Council pulls this off in a CLOSED SESSION. What are they afraid of?

@Citizen

If you support trump's policies and are OK with this:

You have lost your moral compass! This is not the American Values that I was brought up with

John McAlister will be the only one getting my vote next time around. Let the federal government handle federal issues. MV is not boarding the southern boarder. We have our own issues but I guess this is easier than doing any real work.

@Maggie, you really can't believe that if a person supports a candidate, then they support EVERYTHING that candidate does, do you? I have no idea what your link is. Didn't even bother to check on it, but what you decided to do was attack someones political beliefs. Shame on you.
How about you root for your politician, I'll root for mine and unless your open minded to something different, then just stay quiet on the subject.

Mountain View should be able to help fight the federal government but meanwhile the city must obey all Federal laws until the lawsuit is settled hopefully in the way the city wishes but if not keep obeying the law.
