Century 16 has been a car burglary hot spot for years!

Where’s the cops??

My car window was smashed at Shoreline theaters in December. Nothing left in view and nothing to steal. Just a pile of glass and my peace of mind gone. Police had already been and left instructions on how to file a report on a card on my windshield.

I suppose the only ones to benefit are the window replacement outfits!

If Century 16 is providing enhanced security (as they should!), it's NOT apparent. The cost of a couple of security personnel prominently patrolling on foot during business hours would easily be offset by increased ticket sales from customers who once again feel safe leaving their vehicles for a couple of hours.

The Theater Managment needs to install a first class security system. Night and day cameras monitoring 100% of the parking lot including all parked cars, all moving cars and people walking around. Each car and person will be recorded with everything saved for a month or two.
Or something like the above after consulting with police and previous successful similar installations.

Do it now or lose your business to large screen TVs

What do people expect when they leave their purses, phones, laptops right there on the seat? As long as people know people in Mountain View leave their stuff in their cars, they’ll come.

I saw an iPhone and a purse in the front seat of the car I parked next to today. Come on!

This is what can be expected given the situation Mountain View is in.

Mt. View, you've only seen the beginning of Measure V fallout. Sutton's Law. Wait 'til your neighborhoods are as unsafe and look as run down and pathetic as East Oakland and Berkeley's.

Not just auto theft, but property theft as well. One of my neighbors got burglarized. Among the items was an iPad with cellular connection. Thief took bunch of selfies with GPS coordinate of their home, uploaded to owner's iCloud account. The police said they are too busy to investigate!

Hmm, auto and home burglaries on the rise. More transients living in dilapidated motor homes all over the city.... I wonder if the two are connected.
If you do leave a laptop, purse, or valuables visible in your car, sorry, that's on you. It's just common sense to take it with you or secure it in the trunk.

And, today my bike was stolen from in front of Safeway after going inside for 5 minutes. Police came by, took a report, and I'm guessing I'll never see it again.

I didn't realize there was a homeless encampment on the side of safeway there. So, I'm never stopping there again.

I take issue with people blaming the victim, saying it's their fault for leaving stuff in their cars to attract criminals. My car has been broken into twice in the last week & nothing was stolen because I did not leave anything in my car. They broke small windows at the back to pull down the back seats & look to see if anything was in the hatchback, which there wasn't.

I doubt that the homeless are the problem.

The auto burglars and shoplifters that have been caught in PA tend to be from Oakland, Richmond, San Jose, etc, and not from the local area. They drive into town in Beemers and Benzes, and hit a bunch of cars in an area, and then hit the freeway.
