Why do our elementary schools sell/auction/promote the use of alcohol for their fundraisers?

It seems to me it sends a HORRIBLE message to our Kinder thru 5th grade elementary school children to see so much support for stocking and selling (auctioning)ALCOHOL and ALCOHOL based parties at ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Functions. Maybe I'm odd that way

Elementary School Principals: Do you have the courage and moral conviction to admit that ANY reference to or auctioning of alcohol at your elementary school is wrong? Will you take a stand, or continue to foster the idea that, at an elementary school function, alcohol is fine? The kids know aalll about the "Wine room". I think it's a mis-fit at our schools, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there will be cannabis parties at the auction this year. How Fun! (sarcasm)

I'm guessing there will be much rationalization on the issue since if it brings in money, it must be OK, right? I think the idea is repugnant.

@Alcohol in our elementary schools:

1. what does your comment have to do with the article? NOTHING

2. since you propose eliminating the wine cellar at school auction events, then we will need to eliminate all adult fundraiser parties sold at the auction that will have alcohol served at them. Oops there goes $25k dollars that support your kid's after school enrichment programs, school supplies, etc.

3. Since we eliminated alcohol related parties at school fundraisers, we will now need to eliminate alcohol served at the MVEF annual gala. There goes $50k dollars that pay for things like field trips, after school science programs, science teachers at the schools, etc.

4. The Los Altos/Huff parents often tell me they wish the school hosted a family friendly, alcohol free event like the MVWSD friday afternoon walkathons. Instead, th schools host evening adult only auctions where everyone gets tipsy and spends too much $ on auction items. The kids don't get to participate in raising money and it's not a family friendly community event.

5. Remind me again, what were you saying is repugnant? Oh, and make sure you volunteer to run the fundraiser next year so that you can implement your moral high-ground philosophies on everyone else!!! And Good luck getting volunteers to help you with that.
