I guess you have forgotten that Mitch McConnell has done everything in his power to block every attempt to end the shutdown.

Some of these NASA employees think the world of themselves apparently. I'm just surprised they haven't left years ago for those much larger salaries, benefits and job security!

But "@Side1's" myopia at least implicitly (unwittingly) both supports Side1's basic point, and at the same time, demonstrates the kind of attitude that drove so many other people to vote for Trump that he's now *your* elected president, *whether* you like it or not.

And these "unpaid" federal employees generally WILL be paid, just late; moreover, news media like this one focus selectively on the ones complaining about the stalemate -- maybe the obly ones the writers are even aware of, so complete is their bubble of perception -- ignoring other federal workers who acknowledge it's a hardship, but are willing to put up with it anyway, for the higher principles of sovereignty and national security.
