"Opeta was living out of his vehicle on weekdays while working in Los Altos."
A tragedy and a case in point, Los Altos wants bargain labor without incurring the cost of housing them. It's never their problem. If he was working in Los Altos why was he in Mountain View? We know why, zero tolerance in leafy Los Altos.

Mr. Opeta was a resident of Mountain View until they were priced out of the city. He worked in Mountain View on Shoreline. Per family member.

Please stop using this man's death to advance your pro-developer agenda. Where this person was living when he died is irrelevant, the fact is that he was a resident of the area and he will be missed by his friends and family.

It is sad and mysterious that a 28 year old man would die sleeping in his car. There is more to know about this. The temperatures here are too mild for it to be likely caused by hypothermia. The story is not necessarily about Los Altos/Mtn View dynamics.

Sending my sincere condolences for your family’s loss. Another life taken far too soon. Thank you for clarifying mistakes in the article. I’m so sorry that your family member had to sleep in his car. No one should have to do so. May your family find peace. Sending love.

I knew Will. This is a very sad day. He was a wonderful guy. He was a meat cutter by day, pizza delivery man by night. The cause of his tragic death, will not be under nefarious circumstances. His only addiction was working, to provide for his family. I saw Will recently. We talked about having lunch, but there was just one problem. Will's lunch break was at 9:30 am. He started cutting meat at 4:30 am. This world would be a better place, if there were more people, like Will. RIP my friend.

Thank u Michael Reeser for sharing that with everyone... how sad that everybody is more concerned about pointing fingers rather than focusing on posting comments that Comfort the family members of somebody who was too young to die.. everyone is speculating his cause of death in the harshest way... when really this guy was sleeping in his car because he works two jobs and was probably taking a nap in between shifts, because he starts at 4:30 in the morning which is a lot earlier than most people and then goes and works at another job delivering pizza at night... and for people to come on here and post negative [Portion removed due to offensive language] about somebody's death is really disturbing.. my condolences to his family during this difficult time

Thank you to those who held a vigil for him at McDonald's last night.

Will was one of the nicest human beings I knew. We went to the same gym and played basketball together for the last few years. He was the kind of guy who greeted everyone with a smile and big hug. I never saw anything other than kindness or compassion out of him. For example if things got tense or nearing a fight on the court he would be the one saying "let's just hug it out brothers". I feel for his family's loss of their son, brother, cousin etc.. PRAYERS FOR WILL

from HUMBERTO / his team at 2948 store meat dept are extremely sad , we still can't accept it , will is part of my family and will always be , he started working at safeway with me , i trained him and promoted him quick , he is a warrior , strong and super energetic person , i love will , i always told him how proud of him i was and that he was my boy , he was my back up manager for long and had the best relationship ever like brothers , he is such a nice person and very friendly , he knows how much i love him . i missed him so much when he got moved to the other store ,
to me he will always be here , and he knows what i'm saying i said to him before ,
i love will and his team 2948 will always remember him as the greatest person ever ,
only the lord knows why he took him with him , the lord needs good people like will ,
to clarify - he didn't live in his car , he was a super hard working person and very dedicated to his jobs from his heart sometimes to be great like he was it takes getting out of your comfort zone as he always did , the lord took him and that's it , he is happy there and i just want to let him know that i will always remember him
and he knows how much we love him .
to his family , HUMBERTO

We are all saddened by William's death. I have a question for Michael, Humberto, and others who knew him. The message I initially received from the police said he "lived in Tracy, and slept in his car during the week." Did he routinely sleep in his car between jobs? Or did he sometimes spend the night in his car in Mountain View/Los Altos? Either way it's a tragedy.

i never knew anything about the sleeping in his car
he never mentioned anything about it to me
either way that don't matter , anyone can sleep or take a nap wherever they feel , let's not make up stories here please
i respect WILL he is my younger brother and i know he is in better hands now with god , and only god knows why he decided to take him , maybe one day we will know but for now just stay together strong to accept this reality that we the ones that met him and had the pleasure to spend time with him and love him can't believe this has happened
i know is hard not to know exactly what happened but we can't makeup stories , only him and god know .
thankyou all for your support and concerns
LOVE YOU BROTHER . will ,FOREVER ,
you know that .

i would like to tell WILLS family that i loved him so much , he work with me for a long time , he started with me at safeway and we had a brothers relationship , and we had great times together and had the best friendship ever , i can't find the words to explain my feelings toward him , and he knew i cared about him
we lost communication when he got moved to lost altos store ,
and just texted but not very often ,
i wish he never got moved from my store , he was part of my team , a great person , always happy and welcoming , always had a smile on his face , gave hugs if knew you ,
love WILL
