Don't know what happened in this case, but I have read that drug users have been shooting up in more public places lately so they have a better chance of being saved if they overdose.

I thought that McDonalds food kills you more slowly.

I wasted 1 of my 12 free articles on this?

Palo Alto Daily has a front-page article on this today. It says he was a vehicle dweller who had an address in the Central Valley but lived in his vehicle in Mountain View during the week to cut his commute. Lenny Siegel was quoted connecting this to the affluence of the area.

I wonder if the Voice will ever print this part of the story. It goes against the thesis that the vehicle dwellers are homeless Mountain View residents whose rent got raised to a price they could no longer afford.

Truth in many cases is that they are opportunists who have addresses and take advantage of the council’s instructions to the police to not enforce the law.

If it turns out this one died of a drug overdose, it will add to the previous cases of vehicle dwellers using and bringing drugs to deal in our community.

When will an end be put to this?

@MV Resident

I would caution against using the label opportunist for someone who died because he could barely scrape by working two low-wage jobs and lived in a car in a McDonalds parking lot. This isn't opportunistic location arbitrage; it's blue collar survival in 2018.

It was really sad and disappointing from you to add information, in your first print of this story, that was "unconfirmed info from the MVPD that this person slept in his car" you said that this is what Lenny Siegel had told the Voice.

You then deleted all posts from people who responded to that part of the story, then Mark N. and Lenny Siegel posted that anyone who had information about this person who would know if he in fact ever slept in his car to contact you. How desperate of you to do this.

How sad for you to do this.

You 2 people politicized this and you should have waited for the MVPD to finish their report, then make that info public.

My condolences to the family.

I recently commented to a friend, who is involved in media relations in Sacramento, that my local newspaper seems to routinely edit and/or delete comments, or simply lock down threads completely on its website, at a rate that is astonishing. This is not a practice that is routinely seen on other comment sections of local newspaper websites eg. SJ Mercury News, SF Chron, Palo Alto Daily Post, etc.

It’s a head scratcher, for sure...especially when you watch which comments are being edited/deleted.

Shameful.

>> Appearance of impropriety

It's worse in the Palo Alto edition.

This is the rise of conservative totalitarianism developed and spread from Stanford University.

When you're on private property you think you get to make up the rules?
So entitled.

You either need your own page where you can make the rules as you want or you need a tissue to handle the sniveling.

I'm hoping you agree with property rights just as strongly with regards to rent control.
