Original post made on Nov 15, 2018

Much of the Bay Area remained under a haze of smoke Thursday, with unhealthy air conditions that prompted Foothill College officials to close the school.

Well, we're officially doomed! For year's we've been told how even a minute amount of smoke from cigars and cigarettes are extremely deadly. So deadly that people cannot even be allowed to smoke in their own homes within their own walls! Now we have deadly fires, which one theory says were started by PG&E, have covered the entire STATE in smoke! So much that you can see it and smell it everywhere! We know for a fact from experts that have testified in front of numerous city councils, that smoke from cigars and cigarettes lingers for YEARS, and that 2nd hand and third hand smoke are even deadlier than first hand smoke! Based on analyses like those, isn't it reasonable to think that this smoke will be killing people for millions of years to come? If PG&E is found to be responsible, should we all insist that everyone stop using electricity and that PG&E be shut down to preserve people's health and save lives? So what if it's supposed to rain in a few days? We all know that once smoke is in the atmosphere, it NEVER goes away! Maybe the Council can ban PG&E before the new Council takes over.....

You sound angry and spiteful, even in times of actual despair when people's lives are being lost and upturned. Your absurd absolutist comments are logically baseless at best and hurtful to those affected in this tragedy.
I'm sorry you're that way. I can't imagine...It must feel awful. Lonely.

Peace and love will find you if you let it Jim. I hope it does. They have wonderful churches and communities based in love and COMPASSION in Modesto. I hope you seek them out, listen to what they are really saying, and find peace within yourself.

If you think that, then you missed the point, which is that reactionary policies very often lead to tragedy. Those tragedies are then used as a basis to enact yet more policies that lead to the restriction of rights and possibly even more tragic circumstances.

While local, state, and even the national government spends time concentrating on the small picture and attempting to micromanage our personal choices, they take their eyes off the big picture, which is making sure that events like this do not occur.

This tragedy was 100% avoidable with proper management. The logging industry has been decimated in this state, and we wonder why there are so many more wildfires? Logging, when done responsibly, treats trees like a crop just like any other crop. The crop is rotated and managed in such a way as to protect the resource. Better yet, it is done with private instead of public funds and resources, which then can be reinvested elsewhere.
