Ways to help victims of the Camp Fire

Several Midpeninsula organizations are collecting goods and organizing volunteers to help those affected by the still out-of-control Camp Fire that exploded in Butte County on Thursday.

Deniece - I don't know which large organization is collecting toys but my sister in the Sacramento area has been fundraising on her own for supplies such as food, clothes, toys, and toiletries (not money - items people need and can use).

Don't give to the national Red Cross; they do not give much of the money back. I learned this after the Katrina disaster and it was reaffirmed by an article published by the nonprofit investigative group, ProPublic in 2014.

I donate to local groups.
