When did it become ok to live in your car or van?
This is dangerous, unsanitary and breeds crime.

When will this city and its administration wake up and enforce the laws they were elected to enforce.

I don't care what the economics reasons are for it, that has nothing to do with allowing it.
If something happens to someone, I hope the city gets their pants sued off of them!

"When did it become ok to live in your car or van?"

I know you don't agree with it, but the law DOES NOT prohibit living in your car.
No laws are being broken if you pull along the curb and live there for 72 hours.
Let me repeat that: No laws are broken when this happens.

My question to you is, When did you think it was ever not OK by law?

*I'm 100% opposed to street dwelling and am working to change the law however I can.

These are the kind of problems that are increasing in our city and will continue to escalate unless we as voters say enough and demand change. Mountain View was a beautiful city until it turned into an RV encampment. The city has fallen on hard times under current Mayor and council enough already.

How about we stay with the crime that was committed? Dose anyone know how the man got in this poor woman's apartment? So terrifying. I hope she is physically ok.

VOTE the RV Advocates out of office next Tuesday (this includes Siegel, Showalter and Ramirez)

My suggestion is to vote out anyone who does not forthrightly declare that they will steadfastly seek an end to the RV, "beater car", and "molester van" encampments that has infested our neighborhoods. No excuses, No "phasing out", just end it and enforce the 72 hr law as starters. After that amend the law to be stricter.

Enough with hemming and hawing about humanitarian concerns.
That is nonsense.

This is an embarrassment to our city.
If I wanted this liberal sanctioned crap, I would move to Berkeley, Oakland or San Francisco.

If folks cant afford to rent accomodations in Mountain View, there is always San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, E. Palo Alto etc. etc.,
or get in line for affordable housing.

Why should I, as a tax-paying citizen, be forced to see my tax dollars going to accommodate this sickening and dangerous blight?

Now our elected officials want to create "camps" for RVs... instant ghettos... care of Siegel and company.

isn't it amazing how liberals always create the very sad and dispairing conditions they espouse to be against?

Have you had it with liberal/"progressive" social engineering policies? I think a lot of Mountain View residents have had enough.

I too am so saddened to see what has become of my neighborhood in MV. I live by Rengstorff Park, which is now lined with RV's. The entire city is! what is going on? How can this be allowed by our city officials? Is this problem just going to get worse with more RV's coming because they are allowed to park where ever they want, pay no taxes to the city, pay no utilities and contribute nothing to our city. Can any city official answer this question if you are reading this post?

Please don't alienate liberals by blaming all of us for this mess. I'm a social liberal and a financial conservative (yes.. we do exist) and I am ADAMANTLY against the street dwelling fiasco. Over two million of our tax dollars have been spent on this - and it only gets worse. The Siegel/Showalter bloc has had FOUR YEARS to do something and they refuse to even consider it. PLEASE don't give them another four!
I have compassion for our former residents who were pushed out because of high rents in MV, but I have NO compassion for the freeloaders who come here from other cities just to feed off the MV taxpayer. Siegel/Showalter do nothing about the crime, trash, oil leaking onto our streets, the takeover of our parks and park restrooms, etc. from these street dwellers. They must be aware of the opposition to this, as Siegel (for example) doesn't even mention the RV nightmare in his candidate info. He must know how much opposition there is, and is hoping to keep the public in the dark about his push to destroy this city. It is vital that the public knows the truth.
There are ten children living in these RVs - and they do not deserve this garbage. If we demanded a survey of every street dweller, demanded a driver's license, insurance and vehicle registration, and proof they were a former resident, the few who would pass that test could be moved towards housing. The rest (the obvious majority) could be cited and told to leave our streets. My compassion lies with those former MV residents working to better their own lives.
As it stands now, out of towners are sucking our tax money because MV has such lax enforcement. The two million we have spent on this, should be spent on the few former residents who deserve our help and are working towards betterment for themselves. We even have well paid engineers living this way, because they don't want to pay rent (and property tax through their rent payment) as long as the City provides police protection, showers, water, and clean-up. We need a strict screening process and then equally strict requirements for any of our assistance.
Please encourage your friends to NOT VOTE for Siegel/Showalter/Ramirez. They will clearly make this nightmare much worse.

#Interested is spot on.
And I dont mean to alienate responsible liberal minded people.
We need their votes to change the composition of our City Council.
I was once a Democrat, but became an Independent due to the many radicals taking over the party who promoted insane policies such as the one we are talking about here.

Folks visiting our town and relatives who visit every few years are aghast at this situation.
Can you imagine this happening here in the 70s, 80s 90s or even the 2000's ? Has our City Government gone bonkers ?

I second the motion by #Interested
Please encourage your friends to NOT VOTE for Siegel/Showalter/Ramirez. They will clearly make this nightmare much worse.
