Thank you for the in-depth coverage of the four candidates. As background, here's a transcript of the Q&A with the candidates at the League of Women Voters forum last month, along with links to the video segments for each. It's searchable. So you can go and listen to the candidates and compare and contrast their answers in context.

[I didn't create it; the creator has asked for it to be distributed widely, and if there are any errors in the transcript they're happy to update.]

It sounds like all candidates agree that the District failed to roll out TTO correctly and did not communicate the goals and stats correctly! The board didn't redirect the District (Superintendent) By not holding him to some community standards. I think it is time for Ellen and Greg to go. Next would be Jose and Laura needing to go as they prioritized the demands of the sup over the needs of the schools.

GoBoardGo -- I think there are some substantive differences between Greg Coladonato's response to the TTO issues and Ellen Wheeler's (she seems somewhat dismissive of parent concerns and in fact seems to be putting some blame on parents "not understanding" how the program worked -- that was not the case). I would like to hear more about the details of the new process for piloting programs, as that was a key issue; that new process hasn't been communicated to the community yet.

It is interesting to read the article and read the transcript. I along with all the 2016 Board share a piece of blame in the TTO:Math fiasco, as The Voice called it. I accept my share - for not being more proactive. (I had been getting a lot of flack on my inquires about Middle School math - perhaps I was hunkering down too much)

Has Ellen Wheeler ever admitted any responsibility - her self - for her actions as President of the Board during that year? Or for her inactions in oversight during that time? Wheeler had much more access to The Agenda and meetings with The Superintendent than any other of the 4 Trustees in 2016.

As @John wrote - just read her response, or go view the video. (or the 2017 old Board video)

PS The 'new process for piloting programs' is now an adopted district policy. It spells out in detail - what almost all other California districts have been able to figure out using the CA Dept of Ed and CSBA summary advice on this policy topic. i.e. Adoption of curriculum materials that have not been adopted already by the CA Dept. of Ed. new curriculum approval process.
