Thank you, Kevin, for your continued interest in mental health. With the great loss recently suffered by the Stark/King family and the death of a 23 year old in our County’s jail over the weekend, I feel what is greatly missing in this plan is any sense of urgency. The BOS has been “working on” this issue for the last seven years but it has only become increasingly difficult to find quality services for youth who are in crisis. We need more than another conceptual, long-term goal. Other counties (such as Orange County) provide these services which are missing in Santa Clara County.

Why is the county even trying to buy O’Connor & Saint Louise hospitals? Wouldn’t the money be better spend on the proposed new psychiatric facility on the Valley Med Campus?
