Original post made on Sep 27, 2018

In his new book, Jose Antonio Vargas recounts his own story of growing up in Mountain View and living for years with the fear of being outed as a non-citizen. He spoke in a Q&A interview with the ==I Mountain View Voice==, where he previously worked.

It is not "undocumented" it is "illegal". Why? Because the law says so. Picking warm and fuzzy words does not change the illegality!

It cost taxpayers of California $23 BILLION DOLLARS a year to pay for health care and education for the illegal population in this state.

To bad we can not use that money for legal citizens in our state, like for housing, veterans, being homeless, schools, roads, health care, etc.

@Take care of our own first - it costs more than that. Remember that the illegal immigrants come here then have a bunch of kids. Those kids are legal residents so they don't get included in the illegal count.

Once again, the nativist crazies can't get their facts straight...you know what REALLY costs this country? The folks in the so-called "red states." That's right, they're the one using more welfare money per capita that those who live in "blue states."

But I guess facts are a hard thing for y'all to comprehend.

Does Mr. Vargas propose any particular change in immigration laws. What change exactly?

We are all immigrants. or dependents of immigrants. At one time some one in our family came here for freedom of religion or oppression. The white superiority was taught by the ebonics movement. Hitler was a big proponent of it and the schools in Palo Alto have taken off the names of ebonics proponent David Starr Jordan, first president of Stanford. We are slowly getting it right.
We do spend tax dollars on immigrant children for healthcare and education. I am happy that we do. who would want sick ignorant children growing up in this community? Education is the key to real citizenship. We should be proud of your contribution. and thank you Jose Vargas.

Really sick of the Voice's policy of OKing slams against white people.
"Q: How do you convince white people that immigrants aren't their adversaries? "

We are not your adversaries. We just want you to respect American law, which you ignore
