Reading this news article it makes perfect sense where ( next to the dog park fence) I found a small bag on the morning of July 5. It contained 3 different " drugs" of some sort. Not eager to touch the assortment, but pretty sure that vials with white substances and zip lock baggies with pills are not your regular snack stash, I dropped them off at the nearby fire station, hoping they end up with our MVPD for proper disposal. Looks like the areas surrounding our Shoreline Amphitheatre need more surveillance before/during and after concerts. Glad, MVPD was present and able to arrest some of these dealers.

Who foots the bill for MVPD services required to deal with illegal activites and the Shoreline post-concert mayhem? Shoreline's downmarket lineup attracts a bad element to Mountain View, and the residents just have to deal with it, that's the one building in the City they SHOULD tear down, it has had it's day.

Drugs at a dead concert? What a surprise.

Excuse me, but if you don't want open drug dealing in MV, then tell Shoreline not to book any more Dead shows, or any other so-called drug band shows. The whole Dead culture is based upon drug abuse. To slightly modify the '60's hippie saying, it's about "Drop [in], turn on, tune in". Stanford stopped Dead shows at the Ampitheater decades ago because they became an embarrassment for the University --- gate crashing, rampant substance abuse, and very unruly behavior by some Deadheads. And that started 24 hours before the show. It was far more decadent than Stanford football tailgating, where some "fans" use it as an excuse to get fall down drunk.

@William Hitchins,

As is true with with virtually all generalizations, whether about Polish folks, blondes, blacks, Jews or Catholics, your absurd comment shows a very biased and ill-informed viewpoint. Really? "The whole Dead culture is based upon drug abuse"? Surely it can't be "the WHOLE Dead culture", as I have been a confirmed "Dead head" since 1967, and I have never abused drugs. Vote for Trump often?

Actually, lots of folks appreciate the musicality of the Dead, which blends rock, country, blues and jazz, including many "pillars of society". Try and avoid making sweeping generalizations, as they are rarely accurate, and simply make you look ignorant and intolerant.

You cannot defend these events "David K", the fact is that six people who don't live in Mountain View (or even the Bay Area) came from long distances to sell drugs at this event. Dead and Company concerts are a magnet for illegal activity and drug dealing, as we have seen year after year. These events are a disgrace and it's only a matter of time before an innocent member of the community is harmed. "polomom" found discarded drugs at a public park that children often visit, what's next?

Shoreline isn't an opium den, it belongs to the people of Mountain View and Dead and Company need to get out along with other acts attracting criminals.

Haters gonna hate. Me thinks the Dead will always be welcome at Shoreline. "The amphitheatre was built in 1985-1986 by the city of Mountain View, in cooperation with local promoter Bill Graham, as part of the Shoreline Park project. Graham designed the amphitheatre to resemble The Grateful Dead's "steal your face" logo."

The DEAD CULTURE is all about drugs. Could be. I have not researched it. But not all DEAD fans use drugs. Some think the Church is Satan is all about Satan - but it may be more about taking money from fools to enrich the devil's advocate running the place. But haters gonna hate. Pass those drugs.

I'm just shocked that people attend music concerts and use drugs. Roll over Beethoven.

70,000 people (including many who didn't go in) over 2 days. 6 arrests. Down 25% from last year.

Wonder how that compares with other venues with 70,000 (49er games?), with areas where 70,000 adults are out in the evening, with just normal City stats in a city with over 70,000 grown-ups, with other music festivals at Shoreline (like the ones with shootings backstage), etc.

As a resident of the North Bayshore area, I deal with the problems that the Amphitheatre brings to this area.....IMHO The Dead concerts are the least "dangerous". Country western concerts brings in a lot of alcohol drinkers, making the roads more dangerous, the litter after one of those shows is more, and the participants are more obnoxious. Just my opinion.......

Thank you for the trip down memory lane;-) Had the drug free pleasure of attending Stanford concerts in the amphitheater. These musicians produced some of the best local music during that period and still do today! Anybody remember the GD at Awalt? Folks, please don't be so quick to disrespect what you haven't experienced!

@Juan, see, it's easier to blame hippies, people from the rural "red" and immigrants for our drug problems. Maybe what attracts drug pushers in this area is the $$$ available to purchase them, not simply a venue? All around the country we hear the short sighted, infamous, angry Trump chant, "Build the wall" as if that is the solution to our drug problems! Perhaps without realizing it, Juan, you totally disrespected Polomom's observations and incorporated them into your own personalized rendition of building the wall? That's kind of scary considering how many "likers' you got!

Perhaps those who were quick to criticize should try "turn on, tune in, drop out" in that historical order (@ William H;-) and listen in to what you are hating so much? Polomom should receive praise for her comments and being proactive. Let's the rest of us get off our lazy boys and do something about the drug problem!

If you cannot do anything more than just this, please get informed and VOTE and encourage others all over our country to do so as well. Quoting the bumper sticker version of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

Thank you to all the busy Polomoms out there! PEACE!

If u say it enough... u will begin to believe it. I have been to 440 plus shows/ none since Jerry departed... (RIP)... ps/ Bobby stop singing Jerry’s Balads... not becoming of u! The scene has always been TheScene... Dirty/ @ times Pathetic... but people choose this scene. Amazing it is still thriving... Always drugs/ will always be drugs... it’s just what it is. Stop rationalizing it! Don’t see this scene ANYWHERE else! Tell me where? So, I saw the same scene from 1976- 1996... and it’s still the scene/parking lot/ outside venue today. Do u see the pics? Looks the same to me. It is amazing Bobby pulled this off 20 years later. Kudos. Must of been da roses, drugs, and the music as well. Stop saying not the drugs/ Always there! TD Tom

cc-r, I could not agree more.

Drunk people (OK and coke/meth/speed users) are basically the worst. Ask any venue security worker, or hell, any ER nurse. LSD? Mushrooms? Those people are not gonna bother anyone. [Portion removed due to disrespectful comment or offensive language]

But we make $$$ from alcohol sales, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
