I don’t go to that store at night it’s seedy enough during the day.

That Safeway parking lot is rotten after dark. Cars race thru there, it's sketchy. Go to the Monta Loma Safeway or the one on Miramonte instead.

It’s sketchy during the day now, too. Homeless people camp out in front of it; it smells of piss, and there is trash left by them. It’s like we are in SF!

We are San Francisco now with all of the homeless and panhandling people that have come to our area along with the campers that line many of our streets. This is a societal problem that appears to be getting larger and larger as the years pass. There is a larger and larger separation between the have and have-nots. Partly due to population and partly due to many parts of our society being without safety nets. This will only get worse unless our we as a city and country enable these people by providing them with a number of ways to help themselves. Those who are too invested in a drug or alcohol problem need another kind of help that will never be easy to fix. This is what we are becoming as a society and there are ways to help this problem go away but not without helping people out .

The tech industry is taking away most of the jobs these individuals would hold. Throwing money at them will do nothing to get them on their feet. They'll have to be on a welfare system that all of us are going to be paying for. As for the alcohol and drug addicts there's nothing you can do. Rehab just doesn't work. Plus, if they do kick their habit what jobs would they be offered? There are no jobs for these people.

@AllYouCanEat - what jobs is the tech industry taking away from these individuals? Is this a local problem or global? I can believe that gentrification is causing a huge problem locally, but taking away jobs needs more clarification.

It's too bad. I love living in the neighborhood around that Safeway. Everyone is so nice and friendly. I used to shop at that Safeway a lot at night when my kids were little and I never had any problems.

It’s going to get worse if we don’t control our boarders.

That comment about the borders is just plain wrong. But a more obvious
correlation if you have been around a while is with the concert events at Shoreline. That Safeway parking lot gets overrun anytime there is a concert at Shoreline. People use that shopping center as a staging area for their trek to the other side of the freeway.

The police ought to patrol that lot on nights when the concert gets out after dark. They could head off some of these things. For that matter, the concert venue ought to pay for it!

The crime wave caused by the Shoreline Amphitheater stretches for miles on concert night, it's getting ridiculous. It's getting to the point where residents can't leave their homes for fear of getting armed robbed. When is the city council going to demand that Live Nation take responsibility for the crime they are bringing to Mountain View?

There are plenty RVs along Shoreline, I wonder if they have anything to do with the homeless and panhandling, trash, and the camping in the parking lot
