What a terrible tragedy for all involved. The guy who died of course but as I read the story somehow I saw it from the car driver's viewpoint. How dreadful it would be to be driving a car and have a person slide into your path and you can't do anything about it. You hit them and they die.
I'm so saddened for that driver.

That on-ramp at 101 and Matilda is absolutely awful. It's a 270 degree turn, with zero room to get your vehicle up-to-speed before merging onto the freeway. Even if you're hauling on the on-ramp, you're not going to be able to get your vehicle above 35 MPH before merging... which means that traffic is going twice as fast as you are. On top of that: there's a visual obstruction to the rear left that blocks the driver's ability to see oncoming traffic in the nearest lane.
In my opinion, Keish didn't lose control. I was a former co-worker and friend. He rode his bike every single day and knew how to ride properly. I believe he likely had a near-collision with another car as he merged onto the freeway, which caused him to lose his bearings and eject from the bike.
I hope the city see's the immense danger of this on-ramp and works to correct it, so that accidents like this don't continue to occur. Keish Nishijima was 28 years old. That's way too young to die and it wouldn't have happened if that on-ramp wasn't so poorly designed. The city needs to work to eliminate the visual obstruction and create a longer path for entering drivers to merge onto the freeway (so that they aren't merging into traffic, going half the speed that everyone else is going).

Exactly what Maher said. My thoughts go to the motorcyclist's loved ones, the driver of the car that hit him and everyone who saw the accident.

@maher The driver will get over it. Poor guy is dead though. Exactly why I'm selling my motorcycle. It's too dangerous out there.

I feel so horrible for everyone involved in this accident specially the family of the person who passed away. We happen to pass by right after it happened my 10yr old son hasn't been able to sleep ever since he says all he dreams about is the poor guy under the car not wearing any shoes! Sorry for the loss to the family.
