I read these numbers to show that MV is made up of 71 percent Democrats and 29 percent Republicans.

Fair enough. We are a Ri¢hie Ri¢h society that is long on guilt and longs to be hip and woke.

That's why we love to watch black millionaires play basketball and diss our president.

As General Secretary Brezhnev used to say: "It’s easy to have a democracy when voters have no choice"

In related news, recently obtained data from reliable high-level sources indicate the Pope is Catholic.

Can’t wait until it is 90-10 demos to repubs. Not coincidentally, the level of racism will correspondingly drop.

Good times!

However, with the Santa Clara County Sheriff Race. John Hirokawa changed parties to win the democrat vote even though he does not hold any of the democratic values. So, as a concerned voter, I will vote against John Hirokawa for sheriff and stick to my values as a Democrat.

I still think as well he has caused too many issues in the sheriff's department then retired then chose to run to create more mess when Michael Tyree was murdered under his leadership? I will stick to my democratic values and hope most of Mountain View as well follow with our democratic values. If the democratic party endorses anyone who just changes party when they stated in the paper "We changed parties to win the Democratic vote" then I think the Santa Clara County Democratic party needs to rethink their leadership or just merge with the Santa Clara County Republican party since they see no difference in elections.

I will vote no on John Hirokawa for Sheriff because his policies seem to be more volatile if he were elected.

Laurie Smith was reported to be the lone Republican when she first ran in the 1998 race.

Well, Laurie may be a republican but so is Hirokawa just because he changed parties for the vote doesn’t mean his mind changed. He just changed parties for the vote to deceive Democrats. So personally I’d rather put my support and votes in someone else who doesn’t change to win but, based on their leadership and skill.

Verbatim from Jeffrey Cardenas “We changed parties to win the democratic vote in a heavily democrat area.” From the mercury news.

Just not sure why the democrat party is easily that naive to support someone just by changing parties but holding 0 of their values.

I’ll have my democrat community vote against Hirokawa for sheriff what else would he deceive the community on if he were sheriff.

Concerned Democrat, if you're going to pretend to be a Democrat, you need to avoid the Republican verbal tic of calling it the "Democrat Party." Hope that helps.

So, basically you’re on with Hirokawa changing parties to deceive democrats? Got it, and he’s Hirokawa is not a democrat he DOES NOT hold democrat values.

Really? Calling me a pretend democrat? Give me a break I’ve been in the Santa Clara county since the 80s involved with the democrat local politics. I’m just appalled that we have a fake democrat endorsed by the Santa Clara county Democratic Party.

I suppose you’re ok with that. Aside from Hirokawa deliberately changing parties to deceive voters I’m also angry he was at fault when Michael Tyree was beaten to death and he admitted his leadership was the cause. Has everyone lost their minds? This kind of tbinkn is the reason we have Trump and Hirokawa is exactly like him.

How many people you work with in the Democratic Party call it the "Democrat Party?"

Laurie Smith is still a registered Republican. It's really strange that you, a "Concerned Democrat" are going so strongly to bat for a Republican, and using Republican verbal tics when talking about your own party.

Concerned Democrat: here's a fundraiser from this April by the Santa Clara County Republican Party for Laurie Smith: Web Link If you're indicative of the caliber of Santa Clara County Democratic Party operatives, no wonder the Democratic party is in shambles. You're worried about a "fake Democrat" rather than a real Republican.

But, as clear from the evidence above, you're not actually a Democrat, but a Republican trying to tank your candidate's opponent.

No, I am a Democrat and I actually hate them both but, I have a problem when Republican changes their party to Democrat when they even stated in the paper "We changed parties to win the vote in a heavily democratic area"

So, your comment like this "you're worried about a fake democrat LOL who cares!" then why even vote party lines anymore if you can just change your party and no one cares about your right wing views like John Hirokawa who is an ultra-right-wing candidate.

As far as how many Democrats I work with? I work with quite a bit in Palo Alto, Cupertino, Los Gatos, San Jose, mountain view, Sunnyvale, and other democratic clubs.

Again, I just don't know why you do not really care if someone changes their party and is ultra right wing but, states again. "We changed parties to win the vote in a heavily democratic area."

You cannot be that blind. I know no one else is.

Hm, should we vote for the registered Republican who had the Republican party running fundraisers for her, or the candidate endorsed by the Democratic party? Tough choice, this "Concerned Democrat" who talks like a Republican says I should vote for the Republican...

@Very Good News - I've experienced for more racism from progressives in the Bay Area than I ever did when I lived in the South. If you are Black or a woman, or any other minority, and you have conservative views, you can expect to be subjected to all manner of verbal and physical assaults; and the worst part is that the politicians and journalists will make excuses for the people assaulting you!

It's pretty sickening how the same people who claim to be so open-minded and tolerant, immediate brand anyone who disagrees with them as 'Racists, sexists, homophobes, misogynists, homophobes, etc, etc, etc".

Sad.

As to the article itself, it definitely falls under the "Breaking news! Water is wet!" category.

Hey Jim Neal. Congrats on your move. Best wishes. Hope you keep checking the Voice online. Don't forget you will owe me a dinner in MV when Donald Trump is removed or resigns. Trump is working hard - when not golfing - for Russia. And he is now a big fan of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Um. Returning to local politics, lots of Republicans have re-registered as Democrats to run as Democrats. I do not know whether Laurie Smith is among them. Sheriff is a non-partisan office but the political parties endorse in non-partisan races and the party card is often played.

@Gary - Don't worry, I haven't forgotten that you're big on wishful thinking! LOL. I guess the President could be flying billions of dollars to Iran and going to baseball games with the Castros (also brutal dictators) to make people in California feel better, but unfortunately the President has the gall and bad taste to actually try to prevent California from being nuked! It's funny how when he was insulting Kim, the same people that were criticizing him for being to belligerent and risking nuclear holocaust; are now calling him Kim's buddy and criticizing him for coddling a dictator. Funny how that works.
