Three injured in Sports Page bar fight

Original post made on May 26, 2018

Three people were transported to a local hospital Saturday morning after a suspect allegedly hit two bar patrons with his car outside of the Sports Page bar, and was later attacked by bystanders and also injured.

Heroes stepped in to disable the perp and rescue the victims before a multiple murder could take place

If the bar were in Texas, the patrons might simply have shot dead the attacker in his vehicle. It might have saved a lot of money. Of course, it is possible that the driver charged into the man and woman because one or both of them had a gun and pointed it at him. Better to let the police sort it out.

It's probably not a coincidence that there was a concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater last night. If this is yet another act of violence that is linked to the Shoreline Amphitheater then enough is enough. "Live Nation" has shown themselves unable or unwilling to contain their patrons and now the violence is spreading over into the community hours after events.

Last night's concert was Lynyrd Skynyrd; country music concert attendees have historically engaged in fisticuffs very frequently.

The City of Mountain Viewshould restrict the types of performances at the amphitheater to protect the residents

I suggest that Shoreline Amphitheater be only allowed to host classical concerts and with permission, perhaps a few operas and ballets. You don't see patrons at Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall or the War Memorial Opera House duking it out or selling drugs at those two venues.

Public safety should take precedence over profits.

It's not just country shows causing mayhem, I recall a murder at a rap concert a few years ago, and violence at a rock show just last year.

The Shoreline Amphitheater provides no public benefit, it's not in the interest of Mountain View to continue operating a magnet for racism, violence, and bad behavior. There is ONE show a year that Mountain View residents benefit from, and that's the fireworks. Sell the land to the highest tech bidder (probably Google) with the stipulation that the fireworks show goes on forever. That would be a win-win-win for Mountain View, residents, neighbors... basically everyone except those who would come to our city to run people over and commit murder.

Yes, the rap concerts have violence and the rave/electronica shows have lots of drug use, hence my suggestion that Shoreline Amphitheater be converted to a classical concert venue.

I would be thrilled if we could enjoy more performances by our fine local symphony orchestras. Perhaps the amphitheater could be scaled down to morph into a more intimate venue for such fine music.

No more stabbings, no more murders, no more guns. Just wonderful baroque music. Think of how much better Mountain View would become!!!

Good thing Lynyrd Skynyrd is not country music. Kind of / sort of like how Beethoven is not considered rap.

Keep Shoreline and get rid of the worthless, void-of-culture, racist, sexist ballet that continuously injures attendees resulting in $135,000+ lawsuits against the city and continuously body shames POS ballet performists <sic>.

Okay, my bad, let's identify Lynyrd Skynyrd as Southern rock.

Anyhow, the MVCPA personal injury lawsuit got dropped. It had nothing to do with the type of act on stage either, it could have easily happened at any performance.

Let's turn Shoreline into a classical venue!

Note that downsizing Shoreline Amphitheater into a classical only venue with greater scrutiny of performances might result in improved traffic conditions and reduced law enforcement requirements.

Something worth considering!

Turning Shoreline Amphitheater into a classical-only venue is ridiculous and misses the point. I don't care what kind of music is at these events, it's irrelevant. Host all the death metal, gangster rap, gangster death metal, classical, neo-classical, WHATEVER, just don't cause damage to the community. These events are actively damaging the city and the community, until "Live Nation" can meet a few non-negotiable terms then they should not be allowed to run ANY event.

Is it too much to ask for "Live Nation"'s patrons to not run people over after events?

Turning Shoreline all-classical (except for Baroque) would endanger Mountain View's air quality with high levels of smug.

What do you have against the romantic and impressionist era music??

Juan and Reader,

You are both making unfounded assertions. As a resident of Mountain View who enjoys classical music, jazz and rock, I consider Shoreline Amphitheater to be one of my favorite music concert venues.

I would hazard two guesses that 1) there is no more mayhem resulting from a Dead concert at Shoreline than at a comparably sized venue for a classical concert, and that there is not more violence at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert at Shoreline than at any "Southern rock" concert of comparable size elsewhere (while granting you the generalization that "country music" or "country rock" concerts might include a somewhat higher demographic of young men than say, a Dead or classical music concert, and that this demographic is more prone to drinking and mayhem than some other demographics, including both Dead heads and classical music aficionados).

Absent any evidence that the perp who drove the car at the Sports Page incident attended the concert, I think that using this incident to close Shoreline or restrict it to "classical music of ballet performances is asinine to the absurd.

Don’t worry about shoreline. Google will buy that property and then develop more office space. As far as the bar fight goes, alcohol and late night partying go hand in hand
