Phooey !!! this issue of rape kits taking so long to process is rooted in the boys club priorities. If rape were on parity with murder as it should be then the testing problems would go away.

Rape has been dismissed and ridiculed traditionally by the misogynist boys clubbers who run the policing systems. And so we have this outrageous and massive injustice for the targets of male predation. TRULY SICKENING measure of male hostility in strategic venues.

Maher made a poignant statement and the best I might add is why aren't the priorities pushed in place for the resources with the silicon valley technology we have. Look how many decades it took too use some ingenuity to get DNA from the East Bay rapist serial killer predator. Ridiculous! We have the technology, get the resources. No financial aid? Get volunteers trained. USA should excel in this.

I noticed that the metric is how many days from receipt to final analysis. I'd like to know how many hours it takes from start to finish if there are no delays. Does it take 3 hours? 30 hours? 100 hours? Do tests require a wait of numerous days or weeks? If it's possible to come down from 90 days to 30 days, clearly the test itself requires much less. And how many DNA tests are being processed in a day? Let's shine a slightly brighter light in this dark corner.

This article misses the point. Justice delayed is often justice denied and a threat to public safety. Date rapists are almost always serial rapists and leaving these cases unprosecuted for months allows them to reoffend. ( need proof, think about Cosby) I hope the author of this article goes back to the paragraph about 'survivors feeling important' and puts in the actual quote to show what the DA was saying because I'm offended that the message here is that the only reason to process evidence in a timely manner is to limit trauma to the victim. 2 tips for the voice. 1. Female peer editing and/or more women writers. 2. Follow up articles tracking a kit as well as a case through the justice system, what does a speedy trial mean?
