I agree with Sessions in that the California laws are "irrational, unfair and unconstitutional." If a State has the right to protect the law, what justifies that Brown and Becerra are challenging federal laws and protecting illegal immigrants? Why do we need immigration laws for? let all the world come here illegally and demand to be protected against federal laws, and to have free lawyers to defend them. Mr. Becerra and Brown, do you want to file my papers, defend me, and get US citizenship for me for free? I am spending a lot of money in lawyers because I came legally, what do I even need to apply for citizenship if I can get it illegally according with the laws that Mr. Becerra and Brown defend? I don't get it!

According to Brown and Becerra, they should immediately remove Customs Service at SFO and LAX. Why do they need it??? Just let everyone in and California tax payer will support them... Brown and Becerra, are you planning to bankrupt California as soon as possible??? What is your plan and how do you support all these undocumented pulling from every corner of the Earth?? Do you have the budget to support them? Are you going to raise more tax on us??? Show your financial balance sheet. Please don't cut the budget of K-12 and UC system. Please don't increase UC tuition. Please don't increase sales tax! This is an insult for the people who enter US legally and follow the law to apply for Green Card and Citizen.

Why is this state/national issue in the hyper-local Mountain View Voice anyway?

The view published this article so you and me and all neighborhoods speak up and don’t vote any more for incompetent people like mr. brown and me. Becerra. Wake up call! Speak up, stand up! These incompetent people don’t represent anymore California or the people of California. We deserve better, we do not agree with our governors and with incompetent and unreasonable lawyers. Now they want to fight federal laws with our tax money! Wake up California!!!

It is beyond me why any city or state law enforcement agent should turn over info on people arrested in CA to Federal Immigration officials. I totally agree that they should turn over the names of undocumented people who are CONVICTED of any real crime to ICE. The problem is that they might have done nothing wrong if not convicted of a crime. ALSO, I don't think they should be turned over to ICE for something as minor as making a "rolling stop" through a stop sign - which happens to be the only thing I've ever been ticketed for in CA. (When I was young and stupid back east got speeding tickets - but no longer speed unless I can't safely drive in the next to slowest lane because everyone else is going so much over the speed limit.) Although I've tried to never do another rolling stop through a stop sign, occasionally I've forgotten and done it again. Although I was fortunate enough to be born here to 2 US citizen parents, had I been brought here illegally as an infant and lived my entire life here, I sure wouldn't want to live in fear that by doing something as mindless (and not dangerous) as doing a rolling stop through a stop sign where I could see far in all directions that there were no cars on the road headed toward me that I could end up being deported to a country in which I had never lived and did not speak the language. Would you want to live with this fear?

Huh? I'm confused. The California Democratic Party supports states' rights now?

And Republicans hate them now. Almost as if people only champion them when it suits their purposes, not due to any strongly held philosophy...

Republicans and Conservatives don't hate States' rights, we just know the difference between what the Federal Government is allowed and mandated to do, and what it is not. Providing for the common defense is a Federal responsibility. That means creating and funding the armed forces, as well as defending and securing the nation's borders, and determining who is and is not allowed to enter the country.

Everyone sympathizes with the fact that everyone in the world wants to come here to have a better life and freedom. The problem is that the US cannot accommodate 7 to 8 Billion people.

It is also a myth that most of the people who came here illegally were brought here by their parents as infants and don't speak the language. If that were true, there would not be so many in ESL classes. There are also very many that came here as unaccompanied minors.

While everyone is sympathetic to the problem, the solution is not having unenforced open borders. I wrote on this before and I still firmly believe that the current system of allowing mass numbers of people into the country, without any scrutiny whatsoever and having porous borders only leads to the maintenance of an underclass of people who are exploited for their labor, used in human trafficking, and put in a position where they are in most cases, unable to enjoy the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
