Grant to help county reduce hunger, food waste

Santa Clara County officials on Thursday announced a local organization funded by the county to find solutions to food waste and hunger has been awarded a California grant for more than $300,000.

In Las Vegas, Nevada discarded food from a number of casino restaurants on the Strip
is fed to a hog growing ranch just outside of town. (I do not know who pays for the removal and processing of the discarded food.) Those animals then provide food for the visitors to the Strip. That is a good model to follow.
It is hard to think about reducing waste when so many new people are coming into the Bay Area.
