Good program. Mainly supported by Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF) for the extras in the elementary schools. Enabled by Middle School more period decision of the Board (and suggestion/support from the Administration etc.)

In Middle Schools - yeah - eliminate the Math fast tracking (de-facto segregation) mandate that has been sucking up resources for a Decade with NO discernible academic improvement for many Hispanic railroaded SLOW TRACK students. (Stanford researcher Reardon's ACADEMIC GAP data on MVWSD, compared nationally and discussed by the MV Voice and NY Times)

20% more $$ (Enhancement Grant) for all the ELL and Economically Disadvantaged student academic programs in Middle School should allow $$ for their participation in Electives, musical or otherwise.

Good article Kevin. Lots of history for those new to Mountain View and the MVWSD.
