Measure to recall judge qualifies for June ballot

The question of whether to recall Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky for his record in sexual-violence cases will officially go before voters in June.

It’s about time. I rarely vote in local elections but I’ll do it this time.

I think the sentence was overly lenient (although within the guidelines), but I strongly disagree that justice should turn into a popularity contest. I will be voting against the recall, for mob rule should not be the goal for justice.

Interesting how there's no demand for the prosecutor or the woman who wrote the sentencing recommendation to step down. People want Judges to have discretion in sentencing, but only when it goes their way. The judge isn't the problem, the system is. But judges are an easier target for "the mob".

Persky hired Trump's Arizona state director, veteran of multiple anti-woman, anti-gay campaigns, to run his campaign. He's paid him tens of thousands of dollars. In my opinion, that tells you all you need to know about Persky's attitude toward women and sexual assault.

And the idea that the people exercising their right to vote is a "mob" is silly and anti-democratic.
