Judge blocks order on sanctuary jurisdictions

Original post made on Nov 21, 2017

A federal judge on Monday ruled that an executive order that threatened to block funding for sanctuary jurisdictions is unconstitutional and issued an injunction to block it permanently.

Lets make it unsafe for our citizens by protecting non citizen criminals.

Like if we don't have enough of our own.

Cue the flood of people who have no clue what a sanctuary city is or have any understanding of our immigration system.

Can any of you give a definition of a sanctuary city and point to which "crime" has been committed by your neighbors?

Dear SURE,
Immigrants are generally more law-abiding than our own citizens. That wasn't an immigrant in Las Vegas. Or Southland, Texas.
Time to re-calibrate your bigotry. I'm more concerned about home-grown gun nuts than someone who crosses a border just to make enough to feed their family.

Thank you, mvresident2003, for proving my point.

As a follow-up, care to elaborate your understanding of that case? It'll be quite exciting to hear the Breitbart talking points rather than facts.

This is directly from Wikipedia, hardly a conservative bastion or “Breitbart talking point”

(ICE) had issued a detainer for Garcia Zarate requesting that he be kept in custody until immigration authorities could pick him up. However, as a sanctuary city, its “Due Process for All” ordinance[23] restricted cooperation with ICE to cases only where the immigrant had both current violent felony charges and past violent felony convictions; therefore, San Francisco disregarded the detainer and released him.[24][25] He was released from San Francisco County Jail on April 15, 2015 and had no outstanding warrants or judicial warrants, as confirmed by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.[19]

That is a pretty non-controversial part of the event. I'd like you to elaborate more on what Breitbart has told you happened after that. Usually, one would describe the actual events. Why didn't you describe that here? You didn't even mention the name you referenced in your first post. Why is that?

Ryan, I don't know what you're playing here, do you think this is some game of words? I stepped up and gave a very specific situation and then a very specific explanation of why it happened and what went wrong.

How about you give an explanation of Sanctuary City regulation and how it protects US Citizens?

Please read what you wrote again. Nowhere did you give a very specific explanation of what happened. You didn't even reference the person you brought up in the first place! Try again, tell us all what happened and what went wrong.

Kate Steinle was shot by an illegal immigrant who had been deported multiple times. Had he been detained and held for ICE her death would not have happened. Specific enough?

Not really, you seem to be quite unwilling to explain what actually happened. Why did he shoot her?

There it is, you don't actually care about the person or any of this. You're just using a terrible, tragic accident to score political points. Thank you for being refreshingly honest, and laying bare your values for all to see.

Ryan, you’ve asked several questions and I’ve answered. Let me ask you a question:

Why are you defending a person who consistently broke Laws?

How many times a day do you exceed the speed limit in your car? Those limits are the Law (btw I love that you capitalized the first letter there, like a nice authoritarian.) That is a far more dangerous action than the act of being unlawfully present, yet I'm certain you are not wracked with guilt over your daily endangerment of others. Why is that?

the capitalization was a typo but way to be snarky. And I actually don't speed, it's not worth the price of the ticket.

So I'll ask again; why do you feel the need to protect and defend a lawbreaker? You didn't answer my question, only threw dispersions on me.

You know, it's great to have civil discourse but I'm finding it increasingly tough on these boards, no one seems to be able to defend themselves without being snarky and deferring without ever answering questions. Answer this directly, if not I'll consider the discussion dead.

Do you really think the illegal immigrant who killed Kate Steinle is a good upstanding citizen whom we should open our arms to and give free pardon? If you have a daughter, would he be someone you'd want her to date? Really, be honest?

Answer directly.

mvresident2003, you have to be at least somewhat convincing when you lie. You've never gone 5 mph over the speed limit? Never done 26 in a 25?

Considering you've never actually provided the details of the case, likely because you've only read Breitbart headlines about "dangerous illegal brutally kills beautiful white woman" you shouldn't be surprised with the response you're getting.

If you dispute that it was a tragic accident, you must explain the scenario as it plays out in your head. Mugging? Hatred of white people? Which of these is consistent with the evidence?

MVResident2003,

Some people are so set in their beliefs about what American policies should be that they cannot possibly understand reasoning and the rule of law anymore.

America is in absolute chaos, politically. Everything is now legally challenged and twisted by lawyers and money payoffs that law abiding citizens have no protection anymore. There is no right or wrong. Really scary!

In other words the "laws don't apply here". I'm afraid to say it but I see a revolution may be on the horizon between the money moguls and the so called middle class slaves. You can only bend things so far until it breaks. That's what a sanctuary city will do to America.

The very thought of writing your own rules(Laws) outside that of our National laws is enough proof of the dangers in supporting a sanctuary city, county or state.

Furthermore, If you think you have the right to have your own Country inside another then I think you should pay for it without Federal funding. This isn't what I signed up for when I decided to live here. I'm an American!

Thank you for using this opportunity to demonstrate that you understand neither federal immigration policy nor what a sanctuary city policy entails. If you understood any of these, you could actually describe them with facts, rather than rhetoric.

Care to give it another try? Or shall we leave it with you having, yet again, proven my original point?

Ryan Darby,

I have made my point and your continuation of disqualifying my point by claiming I am not knowledgeable or have no understanding of Federal immigration policies or what a sanctuary city is has actually proven my point.

You have no tolerance for other people's beliefs because there is only one way and that is your way.

There is no reason to continue debating it with you because all you do is put people down some how thinking you win them over.
How is that working out for ya so far in life?

I make no attempt to reason someone out of a position they haven't reasoned themselves into. I've clearly demonstrated to all readers that you simply cannot demonstrate any factual understanding of the policy issues, and facts are the basis for any debate. On that, I'll agree with you, there is no debate to be had here. Feel free to prove me wrong, but let's just say I won't hold my breath.
