Corrections to veterinary clinic story

Original post made on Nov 8, 2017

A Sept. 22, 2017 story published by the Voice reporting on complaints against the Alta View Animal Hospital and its owner, Dr. Paul Ghumman, contained two statements in need of clarification and another that the Voice wishes to retract.

I took a dog there around 2009 or so who had an infection in her right jaw, which was swollen. His choice of action was x-rays, a $100 tooth cleaning and several other details totaling $700. Some years earlier I had a similar infection myself that was cured by taking anti-biotic pills for a few weeks. So I asked him why we couldn't do that? HE gave me a funny look and walked out of the room. Several minutes later one of his assistants came out to the lobby with a $150 written estimate and a bottle of pills. A few week afterwards, my dog was fine and never had another similar issue. ............You decide....

After reading the main article and the correction one can see that the main complaint is not true. The dog had liver cancer and the pet parent refused an ultrasound that would have diagnosed it. Also, the second complaint has been retracted.
We have been going to Alta View Animal Hospital for years. They are always reasonable and give all the options for treatment. Many of our friends take their pets to Dr. Ghumman and are happy with the care provided. The staff always give an estimate and a plan before anything is done. The costs are relatively low and the care is good.
The hospital has been around for over 30 years. I remember going there when I was very young.

Wow, I wonder when the last time the voice issued retractions to their story. Looks like the writer didn't do their homework.

I wonder how many customers Alta View lost due to the previous article?

I wonder what the vet's attorney is going to do about it? Sounds like a lawsuit in the making. [Portion removed.]

When I asked Dr. Ghumman about the article that was previously written he just told me that he tried his best to treat the dog but without an owner's consent to perform the procedure he wanted to do, he was very limited. I'm glad The Voice has cleared this up. I'm sure every medical professional has unsatisfied patients, looks like this just went over board IMO.

This is a good clinic with fine doctors. Media writers-get your facts straight before you print the story. Duhhhh!! I guess this is just another news source putting out bad information hurting business and confusing public opinion. Won’t go to this site anymore for news, that’s for sure
