This guy could have picked any place in the state to hide out but he wisely choose Mountain View. Sanctuary City! Frankly, I am surprised that he was caught at all.

Our city is too soft on everything now and it scares me to go to downtown anymore in evening hours. It was not so 15 or so years ago. We walked all over downtown area with our dogs.

Here come the misinformed, terrified old people. I'd be excited to see either of you explain what a sanctuary city is and how it would apply here, and a reference to what the current crime rates are relative to historic levels.

Pretty much, lol. Describes the comment section of most of mv-voice.com.

Mountain View has become a haven for violent criminals. City leaders don't care. In fact, they all but put out the welcome mat.

Tavern, you obviously haven't met any mv police officers. They are real cops doing a tough job. And they were the ones who caught and subdued him, not another area that he traveled through.

I was born in MV and attended all the schools in this district. I moved away to inner city Philadelphia for college - no comparison. It could be worse. MV has definitely come a long way since then.

Apples, you might want to read the article again. He was caught by "state agents", not by Mountain View cops.

I still walk all over the downtown area in the evening - and I don't even have a dog. I feel safe. This guy managed to get all the way up the state before getting caught by police *in Mountain View* because "state agents" here were paying attention. This ought to be reassuring, not frightening.

It is amazing to me how few people understand hyperbole or humor these days. I found Gary's comment to be quite effective because it combined humor, satire, and hyperbole very succinctly. I imagine that is why some people were so quick to attack him personally.

That seems to be a recurring theme, launch personal attacks against those who make their points too effectively against PC dogma.

Just because people don't want the town filled with lawbreakers, doesn't equate with them being afraid. It is though, probably correct to assume that older people tend to prefer law and order to anarchy and chaos (probably has something to do with 'been there done that').

I am sure though that others would argue that poor Mr Kohr should have been left alone because he was just here seeking a better life......

Jason Kohr had only 8 months left to serve on six year sentence. In other words, he had already served 89% of his sentence when he wandered out of a minimum security prison. On top of that, he was caught because he was driving a stolen vehicle. Based upon his criminal history, he should have learned how to evade capture that way by now. Maybe he likes prison, and was just looking for a way to extend his stay!
