Where are all the Google cars (Waymo)?

Original post made by PA Resident, another community, on Aug 12, 2017

We had out of town guests staying with us and they wanted to see all the Silicon Valley sights. On a couple of occasions we drove around San Antonio area looking for the Google cars and we saw none at all. Anyone know why? Some very disappointed techie interested visitors left without their selfies!

I still see them around, but it's pretty random. It isn't like they follow fixed routes, like buses. The Android sculpture garden on Landings Drive is probably a more reliable source of Google-related selfies.

Tell your friends next time to go drive near the rec center on Bingo night. The seniors driving to that do a good impression of Waymo cars.

Better yet, tell them to go on a hike or something

They love in the Google Building at Mayfield and Central. So you can see them pretty much every 5 minutes at Mayfield and Nita or just Nita. They only really use the minivans now.

I haven't seen the little beetle-shaped cars in months, but still see a few SUVs on El Camino now and then. I think they took the little cars off the street or are testing them somewhere else in the country.

Here's some more information: Web Link

The "Firefly" cars (the 2-passenger beetle-shaped cars) have been retired, in favor of a new generation of converted minivans. And their current "early rider" program is operating in Phoenix, not Mountain View.
