Thanks to the Voice for this article. We were wondering what was going on as we went to church and there was police tape blocking the road.
Well done MVPD! I always like hearing that the police were patient and talked someone down rather than it ending in shooting.
Not sure how people that were found to have drugs and a pried open ATM machine just last April were not still in jail, but I'm not a judge, so I don't know how these things work.

If they were arrested just 3 months ago for a long list of weapons and drugs and burglary charges, why were they back on the street so soon? What are they doing with all these guns anyway? Don't tell me that drug dealers have a right to own guns.

Unfortunately, the court system is hampered by delays. Clearly the two miscreants are out on bail after their April caper and those cases have yet to go to trial.

It's not like they are arrested, go to jury trial the next day, convicted immediately and get tossed into prison. I wish it were the case, but sadly, the legal system in this country is overloaded.

Some of these cases take years to go to trial. Of course, our country's "innocent until proven guilty" stance allows people like this to roam the streets until justice can be served.

If you don't like it, elect different people to office or move to a different country.

Make sure you thoroughly understand how the law works wherever you decide to go. Clearly, the two of you do not understand how the law works here.

Judges have a responsibility to deny bail to arrested criminals who are a clear and present danger to society. If the police are so scared of these two that they deployed a SWAT team for a simple domestic disturbance case, then clearly there is a danger to society. How are neighbors supposed to live their lives normally if even the police are scared to visit the property?

Just curious what this might mean: "The suspects, ..., had been prohibited from being in the residence at the time of the incident, and both refused to come out of the house or talk to officers, according to police." ?

Prohibited by who? By a court order? By a police, on the spot? The owner of the house? How exactly and how prohibited their being there?

Interesting how you use the word "scared" when referring to the police and the fact that they had to deploy a SWAT team for a "simple domestic disturbance." Domestic disturbance/violence cases can be some of the most dangerous calls a police officer responds on and to call them "simple" is naive on your part. Most people don't refuse to open their door when the police come knocking, even if it is "a simple domestic disturbance" call.

As previously mentioned, MVPD has responded to this location in the past where guns and drugs were seized. To think that all the guns and drugs that were taken weren't replaced with recently obtained guns and drugs, based on the history with that house, is once again naive on your part. It sounds as though the MVPD and their SWAT team used extreme caution, based on past intelligence and the potential for violence.

I can't imagine the words you would use to describe the MVPD if they had just kicked in the front door and caused injury to the occupants during a simple domestic disturbance!

Thanks MVPD for showing restraint and using extreme caution with these knuckleheads. Time for the owner of this residence to take steps and evict them and anyone else who is allowing them to reside there!

I am one of the residents that was sheltered in place. The police were professional, patient and did a great job. We never felt as if we were in danger. They keep us in formed of what was occurring. Thank you to the mountain View police and the other officers who assisted in the situation.
