Alta Vista grads prevail over life's hurdles

Prevailing over adversity is a persistent theme at Alta Vista's graduation ceremonies. The continuation high school serves students from Mountain View, Los Altos and Palo Alto who, for one reason or another, fell behind or struggled to succeed. The 22 graduates this year all have a story to tell, and many of these stories are shared openly for the first time on graduation night.

"We pushed through all the obstacles to graduation," AKA a breeze in the park. Nothing complicated at all.

I graduated from Alta Vista many years ago. Not having the stigma of a GED, but rather a real high school diploma has made that chapter of my life much easier to put behind. I'm glad the program is still there and still helping kids navigate rough times in their lives.
