Flashes from the Past - Like Memories of MV, but old products

Original post made by CrescentParkAnon, another community, on May 17, 2017

The what do you recall from Mountain View's past thread is great and it got me thinking of when I used to live in Mountain View ... well, three times.
The first time I was a young college student in the 70's ... back when you could work and live on about minimum wage and even go to school for almost free ... $5 a unit. I thought that was a lot back then.

BUT, I used to live off El Camino and Bonita St. where there used to be an old Food Fair Market, and I was thinking of the things I used to buy frequently there and I thought it might be interesting to see what foods or products people recall from the past that are no longer around but that were really good.

I used to get Gilbert H. Brockmeyer's All Natural Carob and Banana Walnut Ice Cream back then. It was really good. So good that I would often eat it for dinner but taking another food I used to enjoy ... Boudin Bakery's Sourdough bread, hollowing it out and filling it with ice cream. Yeah ... not the most nutritious diet for a college student, but Gilbert H. Brockmeyer's All Natural Carob and Banana Walnut Ice Cream

and

Boudin Bakery's Sourdough bread

were two things I really used to like and were great quality. Does anyone remember those things, and does anyone have any memories of other products they used to like that are gone.

There was one other thing, there used to be these really large and thick potato chips, and I cannot remember the brand name of them, but they were great too.
They were sold in regular stores for a while and were about 3/32nds of an inch thick ... monsters. They were good, but I imagine they were too expensive and fattening for people to buy all the time do they stopped making them pretty quickly.
