>When officers approached Nunez to question him, Nunez was belligerent and began shouting, and later punched an officer in the head when police tried to detain him, Nelson said.<
Accurate journalism requires: "Police allege that when officers approached Nunez..." Not saying it didn't happen as claimed but it may also NOT have happened as claimed. Thanks to ubiquitous cameras in the wild we are learning that police lie and exaggerate frequently. No one should take their account as gospel, especially not those claiming to be journalists.

To CitizenJournalist and all the other would-be pulitzer prize winners out there,
I'm sure you were very proud of your insightful musings as you passive aggressively indicted the police account and overtly indicted the author's account. Now, let me as you, did you fact check your assertion? Was the author using the PD's account of the story for their piece? Maybe they spoke with the woman involved. Maybe their was a 3rd party witness. Do you know? There's nothing in the original story that says, "Police told The Voice, as they approached..." is there?

And, I'll beat you to the punch. I hate when I type on my phone. Curse you, auto-correct! You always comes back to bite me. Need to proof read I guess. Nevertheless, my point still stands.

Anything that happens at 2:30am involving drinking and arguing is not going to end well...this proves it (no matter how you report it). The only difference is in these situation the perpretrator (Mr Nunez in this case) may go to prison (if he is not well connected and has no money) or he will get off if from he has connections and money.
