"Entire programs" could be cut? Which ones? How large is the county budget? How about just abiding by federal immigration laws?

I love the people complaining about sanctuary cities that have no idea what a sanctuary city actually is. @Cut what, what exactly do you think is unenforced by Santa Clara?

"a major issue in a county with a population that is more than one-third foreign-born"???? I don't believe foreign born have any fears of law enforcement unless they are doing something illegal! If more than 1/3 the population are illegal immigrants(undocumented citizens), we have a completely failed policy. Imagine the traffic and housing if this failed policy was corrected. Imagine higher wages for blue collar and most likely less crime! Why is it soooo difficult to gain citizenship? More than half of my colleagues have residency or cards.

I don't really get it. California as a state pays out more in federal taxes than it receives back. Combine with the fact that California is under-represented in delegates during any national election with consequent weakness in influencing the country's direction, and it seems that California would have a good case for secession from the United States with very little financial downside, and probably a large upside to individuals and communities.
