Zimbabwe charity race and fair turns 18

The 18th annual Run For Zimbabwe will be hosted at St. Joseph school, 1120 Miramonte Ave. in Mountain View, on Sunday, Mar. 26, from noon to 4 p.m. The event aims to teach the local community about Zimbabwean culture and to raise funds for the Makumbi Children's Home, an orphanage.

That will go far because $35,000 in Zimbabwe is equivalent to $1,000,000 in the United States (adjusted for per-capita GDP based on CIA World Factbook).

Wikipedia does a half decent summary of the pre-colonial history,

and the 'private colonialism' of Cecil Rhodes (British South Africa Company = capitalist as his own Foreign Office / State Department / country creator!). The apartheid style post colonial white government of "Rhodesia" fell before South Africa's did. Unfortunately, for politics, the 1980 leader Mugabe is no Mandela.
