Community forum to touch on local impact from Trump's rise

Original post made on Feb 9, 2017

On Saturday, the city will host its first civility roundtable of 2017, "Affirming Mountain View's Values and Building Community in Times of Uncertainty." City officials said Thursday that the response has been so big, the event has been moved to a bigger venue: the Main Stage of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

I'm sorry I can't be there but it a day to help Planned parenthood who provide many low cost health services for poor women.

However I would like the City of Mountain View to pass a resolution demanding an investigation into the Russian attack on our democracy during the election.

We need a bipartisan independent investigation like the 9/11 commission.

If we don't ask for this, it will get buried in the chaos that is happening in Washington.

The City of Mountain View also needs to hold civility roundtables and pass resolutions on the following topics:

Brexit
The Search for Alien Life
Doping and the Tour de France
Corruption in Venezuela
The North Korean Nuclear Arms Program

USA is a registered user.

Through a series of elections, the voters have considered the policies from the Democrats and from the Republicans. They have responded by electing Republicans into

the majority in the House
the majority in the Senate
the majority of governorships
the majority of the majority of state legislatures
the presidency
and now the Supreme Court

Maybe instead of being sore losers, they could do a bit of introspection to understand why voters hate the Democratic policies so much.

Not that I think you've engaged in any rational thought regarding the talking points you're spouting, but we only need to look back to 2009 to see Democrats with a majority in the House, supermajority in the Senate, and the Presidency. These things change quickly, and as the recent townhalls show, let's just say that most of the states that voted for Trump have quite a lot of buyer's remorse.

His approval ratings have been and will continue to be negative, and people are looking to the coasts to lead the way in providing a positive, forward-looking agenda. And, as usual, that's something liberals are good at, since we don't need to stir up fear of our neighbors to provide a policy agenda.

No, you don't stir up the neighbors, you stir up our own citizens (or more likely, our illegal residents who you most definitely want to keep here dependent upon your policies and delivering your votes.)

Dems may have had the federal level but never has there been such an overturning even down to the State level. Let your biased media keep up the way they're gong and we'll see it gain in the next elections. People are tired of emotional feel good kumbahya, they want results with more jobs, fewer taxes and options for better schooling. And hopefully Trump will indeed deliver on that despite every attempt by the left to stop him.

Hahaha, you really have drank the Kool-Aid. I assume you'll tell us next that there were millions of illegal votes in California.

California is going to keep leading the way and creating more jobs than the states that suckle off our tax dollars, which for some reason keep going Red. Odd, that.

We'll expand our supermajority here as Trump is an anchor that brings down the Republican party.

Oh you poor people.

Attacking anyone who disagrees with your worldview is what got Donald Trump elected.

How about finding a different tactic? Maybe listen first? See if there is some common ground and maybe, just maybe, you can win over a vote or two.

I know, crazy right?

Sitting back in a liberal bastion like California and thinking the rest of the country will eventually see your side is a terrible plan.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Besides, more people wanted Hillary than Trump, and that number is only growing as everyone sees what a terrible president he is.

Anyway, aren't you happy with Trump being President?

Sitting back in my liberal bastion will work out fine. The rest of the country will slowly come around as Trump makes their states even worse.

We are non-white American citizens. My family has been American citizens since the 1800s. Is the new administration's war on minorities part of their ALT-RIGHT white supremacist agenda? Or are we just collateral damage in their war against immigrant minorities?

@minority American, I'm curious as to this "war on minorities", can you provide some specifics? I'm not familiar with anything to that effect, wondering if I've missed something?
