Kevin Forestieri: Another good article. But please note that a consul is a person, a consulate is an office. Thus it is "Patrick Heinz, the German _consul_ general" or else "Patrick Heinz _of_ the German consulate general" -- not as currently written.

Steven Nelson: Did you intend your comment for a different article? The word "tax" appears nowhere in this one.

Combined with the city EPC recommendation to build BIG BIGGER BIGGEST for future residential in East Whisman area, the issue of neighborhood Slater Elementary rebuilt reopen size & boundaries,

seems a perfect political storm, Board + Council. But that is exactly why we have elected members to discusses and represent us in setting Public Policy.

I hope the new Board and Council leaders - Pres. Gutierrez and Mayor Rosenberg can CALL A JOINT Board-Council DISCUSSION meeting ASAP. It is in their power - to do this - for better community discussions of items affecting thousands of MV people, over the next several decades. (after the Council's Feb. 14th Study Session)

Com'on guys, are you two new wave leaders? Or just the old-status quo? Let's see that past MV renown, for school/city direct co-operation thrive anew. In the OPEN.

Whatever the outcome is the School District should follow proper procedures before entering into a long term lease contract with any party. First the School District needs to determine if the property is really a long term surplus property, means they need a long term study regarding the district' student number projections. If the numbers are OK and support that they will not need this school building for their own use as a public school, then it should go the legally correct way to solicit a number of bids from interested parties - no "behind the door negotiations" - to ensure the district is getting the best price. This typically is done by a public auction.
Best the School District asks their lawyer what process is required ;-)
With respect to GISSV: seeing the cost of other school repair projects your $5M will not bring you far. Also reading between the lines: adding additional classes means GISSV needs to apply for a new CUP, including traffic study and impact studies. time period for this is between 12-24 months before you can start construction. So be prepared that even if you get a long term lease, you will not be ready in 17 months.

Leased out in 2015 for 30 years to get more money for employees. Wow.
