Unemployment below 5 percent in 8 Bay Area counties

Two Bay Area counties had unemployment rates below 3 percent last month, while all but one county reported rates under 5 percent, according to data from the California Employment Development Department.

I find the data hard to believe when there are hundreds of people in the area on government assistance of some sort. Not counting people who have given up the hope of ever finding work makes these numbers less than credible.

Pardon me if the only thing that will make me believe employment is better is seeing fewer people whipping out EBT cards at the grocery store.

While low unemployment rates and ongoing public assistance seem at odds, it should be noted that some jobs do not pay a living wage. Here's a link: Web Link

It may surprise you to learn that most homeless people have a job, and can no longer afford rent, so they couch surf, live in cars, etc.
