Just noticed this editorial from January. Still quite relevant given the closed session approval of some kind of settlement with Teach to One.

Will there ever be any kind of transparency on this issue?

It only got worse. The Superintendent staged a plainly unlawful closed session of the school board on February 28 to settle his own personal liability to the provider of TTO without any "legal counsel" present to tell the school board the truth. This after the Superintendent had placed on the December 8 agenda the approval of the expensive and loaded contract proposed by the provider (a New York based corporation). And now the Superintendent wants more money to squander (flat parcel tax on May 2 mail-in ballot). Here is an interesting question: when and how did this Superintendent learn of TTO? Was it through the corporation's local "consultant" Aila Malik? Or was it before he arrived in California?

The Superintendent's delegated authority for similar large contracts (more than $87,000) will be under discussion tonight. The Superintendent is proposing an AR (Administrative Regulation) that will give him more power, not less, by also including Property Use Agreements of 5 years (MOU). If you agree with the Voice Editorial of last week, that more Bpard oversight, and not the same or LESS is called for,
