Jan had such a warm, giving spirit. She always had a big smile and was totally in it for the kids. My deepest condolences to her family.

As a Bubb Elem parent for the past 6 years, Miss Janet (Austin) was a light of life and fun for both children and parents. As lunch duty supervisor she was strict with the rules, but always happy to help little fingers open their stubborn thermos bottles, or settle a little dispute among benchmates. Her joyful, caring presence stood out to me from the very first year I met her in 2011 when my son was a new Bubb kinder. Through the following years I greeted her with a smile, "Hello Miss Janet!" deeply grateful at heart for her warmth and guiding presence for the kids. She's was truly a caring angel for the children of Mountain View. And now she has her wings. Stay close to us, Miss Janet, we will not forget you. You are deeply missed.

I only met her a few times but was always so happily surprised by her warmth and sense of humor, her relaxed demeanor and the caring way she addressed the kids. She had a natural authority about her, too. It made going into the office a friendly interlude in the middle of the day. Was very sad to hear that such a nice person passed away so soon.
