So many ways to drive impaired: drunk, drugged, sleepy, using your iphone. No wonder pedestrian fatality rates are soaring. I hope MVPD has a zero tolerance policy for impaired driving. No warnings. Take away their keys and let them UBER home with their citation.

"No wonder pedestrian fatality rates are soaring."

This statement is incorrect. According to the IIHS, pedestrian fatality rates have decreased since 1975. There is a more recent trend in rising fatalities since 2009, but using the term "soaring" is hyperbole.

Read the facts, not blather from resident (Old Mountain View) who does know understand what he/she claims.

I'm talking about pedestrian fatality rates in the last 8 years (since the invention of the iphone), not the last 50 years. Unfortunately, California is a leader in this trend. Here is one national news report from earlier this year "Pedestrian Fatalities Projected to Spike 10% in 2015": Web Link

Really, is this news to anyone? I was taught this in driver's ed back in high school 1977. Man, must have been a slow news day.
