The photo caption should say "apiary", not "aviary." An apiary is a home for bees. An aviary is a home for birds. Though often discussed with adolescents at the same time, it's important to be able to distinguish between bees and birds. ;)

Sounds lovely. Too bad the rainy cold weather is happening for the grand opening or I'd be there. Plan to stop by when the weather clears and the sun is out again.

There were loads of people there - in spite of the rain. Parks & Rec did a great job with rain shelter, most people brought raincoats / umbrellas and wore other rain gear.
I think this is a great example, how in the space of less than 4 years for the park, the city bought, 'community envisioned', and executed a smaller park plan. Not counting the decades that "The Immigrant House" community organizers worked their magic. The most important 'community organizer' was the lady who owned the property, and understood what "selling to the best buyer" would/could preserve for her community..
