Assembly race splits Democratic establishment

Original post made on Oct 28, 2016

Unlike in recent years, where the district's anointed Democrat rolled to a comfortable Election Day victory, this year's Assembly race has split the Democratic establishment into two camps.

I don't get why anyone would have to think twice about the vote in the Assembly race. The choice is clear: Marc Berman. He's serious about housing issues, transportation, infrastructure, etc. etc. Veenker is barely taking her campaign seriously by resorting to misleading attack ads, rather than any real difference on the issues.

Has the poster above met Vicki? She is FANTASTIC. Smart, thoughtful, down to earth and knowledgeable. She was the reason behind Stanford's most profitable patent ever. Plus she then represented foster kids.... This woman has the depth and breadth to make our district proud.

So, yes, I have thought carefully about where my vote will go, and it will absolutely go to Vicki Veenker.

Marc opposed the car-dwelling ban. He shepherded $8 million in city funds to repair Palo Alto city infrastructure. Every day I drive/bike down Los Robles I am reminded of that. His hard work, idealism, and pragmatism will serve us well in Sacramento!

Berman's main support comes from the real estate industry. Think about that. Also when a fellow says I don't understand or know her positions you can bet he does not want to discuss them. He doesn't want anyone to pay close attention to her. It's such an old cliche maneuver but hey it often works.

I'm voting for Veenker.

The main reason I am not voting for Veenker is her lack of experience in political decision making. It's amazing how arrogant some people are in thinking they are ready for state political experience without serving on a local elected position. She is unprepared and Lacks the political skills to be effective at the state level.

This is one of the reasons we end up with poor politicians. We vote for people that are likeable and have similar preferences but don't have the experience or skill set

Does PA Councilmember Berman support or endorse the letter from Palo Alto to the Select Committee proposing to shift noise from Palo Alto to Moutain View?

I'm more bothered by a "district's anointed Democrat rolling to a comfortable Election Day victory." It wreaks of establishment politics with the voters being manipulated and it what has gotten us into a mess to begin with. We need competing ideas and candidates in all parties and all races and a level playing ground. But good luck with that if it starts at the local level and then the media gets involved with their own bias.

I did my own research and chose Berman in the end.

Please people: I have sat through many a meeting where Councilmember Berman had not read the materials under consideration, spoke without knowledge of the issues, reflexively lined up with developers, congratulated staffers when they prepared incomplete reports that were misleadingly flawed, and functioned as an empty suit keeping the chair warm waiting for this moment to "serve."

Maybe that's why so many mailers with head shots and declarations are coming your way. Good God, what a waste.

My opinion? We need someone who can provide perspective and leadership to take California forward.

Please vote for Vicki Veenker, who is intelligent.

Mark Berman has sent a deluge of nearly daily mailings to voters. No other candidate came close to this massive waste of paper. This so-called "green" candidate is a smoke and mirrors politician supported by the local Real Estate Establishment.

Vicki Veenker will do the best job for all the people in this district. Vote Vennker!!
