Smash-and-grab burglary caught on video

Mountain View police are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a smash-and-grab burglary outside of a Starbucks on Pear Avenue on Monday.

Felony? Misdemeanor? Infraction?
Looks like petty larceny to me, under $950 value.
I'm ignorant about what kind of penalty this brings.
Do we ever really find out?

Wow, I had no idea a windshield could be broken so easily. It looks like he just rolled his sweatshirt sleeve over his hand and punched right through it. Also looks like he's got a lot of practice.

There are tools you can buy to "pop" car windows very easily, with nothing more than a push. You place the item against the glass, lean a bit, and the safety glass breaks. They are sold as emergency items. You can see the perp has something he is hiding under his sleeve. That's likely some sort of similar tool.

I saw this video on the SF news. I hope they catch this piece of trash.
