Two new candidates join City Council race

Original post made on Aug 15, 2016

As the candidate filing period closes, it appears that Mountain View voters will have a field of eight candidates running for four City Council seats. The contest became more competitive with two late entries -- Greg Coladonato and Kacey Carpenter -- announcing they would join the race.

After seeing the obstinant mess made in the School Board meetings and the parcel tax debacle, I feel Coladonato would not be a choice leading to pragmatic, sensible and workable solutions for our cities problems. I don't plan to vote for him.

A delegate for Sanders? Greg has a history as a Republican, and active campaigned for Ron Paul (Web Link I had the opportunity to work closely with him for about a year, and found him to be one of the most self serving people I've ever met. He'll say and do anything to further his political aspirations.

I also found that paragraph confusing. It is Carpenter who was a Sanders delegate.

I am not a fan of Coladonato and do wonder why he has never addressed his sudden flip from working for Libertarians to running as a Democrat.

The residents of Mountain View should be warned that Greg Coladoato has a terrible track record. He has not demonstrated the ability to listen to any constituent during his time as a trustee on the MVWSD board. Nor has been able to recognize his own (constant) conflict of interests when he represented his school at school board meetings.

The only advantage of having Coladonato serve on our town's City Council is that he would have to give up his seat in the school board. But I wouldn't wish his self-centeredness on Mountain View at large. Our kids are already paying the high price for his bad decision making and self-servitude with him on the MVWSD school board. Anyone parent who has works with him at th school level understands that he as no ability to act behind his own interests. Mountain View deserves better.

Perhaps Coladonato would be a libertarian_like replacement for two term councilman John Inks. I have heard they 'are friends'. But Inks was willing to be endorsed by local company owners and businesses. I don't know if Coladonato would accept any of that endorsement help and money. PROMETHIUS $$$$$? I sort of doubt he would ever go that far (as other contenders are reported as doing, already)
There seem to be a lot of complainers over at Rex Manor, Stevenson/ PACT. Oh well, I guess Coladonato lost that hundred vote block.
Bernie_backer Carpenter supported a recently_converted_to party Democrat. I guess Coladonato is also a relatively recently_converted_to party Democrat?
Does anyone know who got the official Santa Clara County Democratic Party endorsement last Sunday? Nonpartisan office (yeah sure).

At least we have 8 for 4 City Council seats. Better than 4 for 4. And they seem like an interesting group. Who ran for the MV-Whisman school board?

I hope that prior to the election, a comprehensive list of the candidates and their contributors is available. It would be very enlightening to see who is getting substantial funding from Prometheus.

@Paul21-
You can look up all contributions. Don't wait to be spoon fed.
