County heroin overdoses on the rise

The number of people who end up in hospital emergency rooms from heroin overdoses has continued to rise as use of the potent narcotic deepens in Silicon Valley and elsewhere, according to data recently released by the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development.

OK, college "kids" (category) may be a bit of a misnomer.
I urge all people concerned about the problem of prescription opioid painkiller overdose (and this heroin problem) to consider ASAP, following today's Mercury News Editorial and write (email) your local assemblyman and state senator to support an in-process new law. SB 482 (Lara). ""The Legislature should pass Lara;s SB 482 and help stop the abuse of addictive prescription drugs.'
