Is she fluent in Spanish? I hope so.

Many students from first-language Spanish families are disappearing as rents soar. They are being replaced by students from other non-English countries. The so-called "Silicon Valley Leadership Group" would argue the switch is progress. What's right for big business is right for Silicon Valley.

Former Principal Chang- Best Principal to come along to Crittenden in a very long time. I hope that vibe continues with the new Principal. If she can take charge of the school like what Principal Chang did, then I feel more secure as a parent. Principal Chang brought that seasoned-tough attitude coming from his last stint in NY. The last 3 years have been nothing but progress- I hope the next 3 will be equally as well.

The student population is not changing. Check great schools or school digger (first is .org; latter is .com I believe) and there are distinct percentages of each population listed. As rents soar, many families are simply choosing to live together. Monta Loma Elementary, for example, is still close to 60-66% Hispanic. While the district is attempting to close the achievement gap and having some success, there are still many, many students who are multiple grade levels behind in their reading/writing/math and holding the "on par" students back.
Losing the former Crittenden principal was a HUGE loss. Hopefully things he started will continue to roll on until the new principal is hopefully able to begin her own contributions.
