Postcard from the Democratic National Convention

Original post made on Jul 27, 2016

As the old saw goes, all politics is local – and that's true even when it comes to this week's Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

"The whole thing was trying to make everyone feel good about Hillary,"

How about having a candidate we don't need to be tricked in to feeling good about? This is the worse set of candidate choices I've seen in my life.

My theory is Trump is a plant, because the only way to make someone as bad and unqualified as Hillary look plausible is too have a total nutcase as her opposition.

Lenny,
Have you ever watched a convention? I am not trying to be rude, but is sounds a bit naive.

"...felt like one long "infomercial" for Clinton." and "... made me uncomfortable because the vote hadn't even been counted yet."

A convention is all about talking good about the candidate. And, yes, the votes have been counted. Come on! The convention is all just an event - there are not going to be any big surprises. We knew the votes, we knew who would win.

Could not resist. But seriously, Bernie never had a chance. Not only did Hillary Clinton supporters rigged the primary process but, as a self-described democratic "socialist," Bernie could not have beaten Donald Trump in November. Even middle-of-the-road Hillary Clinton will have trouble beating Trump in swing states.

Lenny:
If you had just remained silent and stayed home, no one would know of your left wing leanings....

But Oh, I guess that hasn't be a secret...

I suggest that you (and all other MtnView residents, go see the newly released movie "Hillary[s Movie". A great story of her rise to power.

Correction:

Hillary's World,, not H's Movie.

And...."hasn't been"...not "hasn't be"

Sorry... just so excited about the convention.

Is the Mv Voice going to offer this much real estate to every councilmember when she/he travels?

I don't understand how this is an actual story worthy of coverage. And asking Siegel to hearsay his version of what can be seen live-streamed online? Honestly, I really don't understand why an elected official would even contribute to such a story. It's not like he doesn't get asked to give a quote by your paper for everything already -- even when it's not even in his area of expertise. Pick favorites, much?

Is there really no other news?

I was also a California Delegate for Bernie Sanders and I made the trip to Philly with about 1900 delegates. The experience was life changing in several ways. First, the new friendships that I met working with the committed delegates and volunteers at the convention. Second, the lessons that I learned about how our political process represents the people. I plan to write a book about this experience. Third, the important message to get more people involved into the political process to focus on the issues.. Bernie asked for his supporters to continue ourrevolution.com and encouraged more people to run in local government so I am now a candidate for Mountain View City Council.
