Residential Parking Permit Proposal needs your input now!

Original post made by Residential Parking Permit Opponent, Old Mountain View, on Jun 16, 2016

Please check the city council calendar.
The good news...(for the influential) the city will soon approve local single family homeowners the ability to establish minimum 6 block parking districts living near downtown, these homeowners will grant themselves 3-4 parking permits plus a guest permit while establishing 2 hour time limits for everyone else who may need to park on or near their street. Clearly wrong for a myriad of reasons. But here is just one example of potential abuse. Lucky single family homeowners will now be able to park 1 block from the train for maybe $50 per YEAR. Posted permits in their window will allow them to ignore time restricted streets anywhere within their district.
Less fortunate residents of Mountain View (renters, condo owners and PUD dwellers or anyone else) will still need to pay $55 per MONTH to park in the Cal train Lot. Permit holders need only move their cars every 72 hours. Theoretically, they could just take a weekend to Europe with no parking fees or establish a "parkingbnb" to make extra income for themselves. Of course parking for the discriminated will become horrific.

"Starting July 1, the price of parking at Cal-train station lots will increase 10 percent, adding 50 cents to the usual $5 for daily parking fees and rising from $50 to $55 for monthly parking permits"

These $50 permits will also be extremely valuable for homeowners that have converted garages or companion units whose tenants require all day city street parking.
